Microsoft SharePoint, Collaboration Solutions, SharePoint Collaboration

For all businesses that want to make their business processes efficient, then Microsoft has something for you. The world’s leader in software development created the Microsoft SharePoint which is a kind of content management system that allows the users to work in a web-based collaborative environment thereby making document collaboration a bit easier for businesses belonging to different kinds of sectors.
Contrary to what most people think, the Microsoft SharePoint does not necessarily replace the file server that you are currently using in your organization thus it lets you save on the installation of newer equipments and machineries.

What I like about the Microsoft SharePoint is that its installation does not require any fuss at all. It only needs your computer to be running on a Windows 2003 server and a version 3.0 of the .Net framework. Installation is automatic which makes this a great software for businesses or establishments that do not want any hassles.

On the other hand, the software also can be installed on different servers running on Microsoft’s SQL Server 2005 and then configures it to be used with the SharePoint Server 2007 thereby eliminating any problem regarding compatibility of software. Since this software is web-based, you can open it by using latest and previous versions of Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer.

Once the software is up and running, it is very easy to create the tasks that you want since they are arranged in a template already. These template categories include collaboration, meetings, publishing and enterprise. Every template and application is simplified under the program.
Although these are the strong points of the Microsoft SharePoint, these features are, unfortunately, criticized by a lot of people considering that the software does not require installation of newer machineries. This also meant that the software can lack features that can integrate other tools and machineries for developers to fully tap the power of the software.

On the other hand, what makes the Microsoft SharePoint a bit disappointing is that it has a complex software architecture that greatly differs from the software using ASP.NET-based applications. So if you are going to use it with only the knowledge of ASP.NET, then better brush up with what the current framework of Microsoft SharePoint is working on. However, these are some things that Microsoft is working on. And for that, we will surely be vigilant of the newer and better version of the Microsoft SharePoint that addresses these issues. But then, overall, the Microsoft SharePoint is something that neophytes can use for their small businesses.
