Desktop Collaboration Tools

If you belong to a network, chances are that you would want your desktop computers to be connected to the rest of the computers for file sharing. On the other hand, most people connect their desktop computers to the rest of the desktops in the network so that they can share documents. This is extremely true and important if you are connected to the network within your company where every communication exist in a form of a document.
However, connecting your computer to the network needs tools and for that, you need desktop collaboration tools to connect everything up. With a desktop collaboration tool, you will be able to connect computers with the other computers connected to the network you are in thus you can have a fast and easy file transfer from one computer to the next.

On the other hand, out of the many existing document collaboration tools used by most organization, the desktop collaboration tools are actually considered as the crudest of all since they were used the moment networking of computers became possible. For this reason, this particular tool encountered a lot of problems along the way and one such problem is the lack of a framework that allows the central management system to keep track of the changes made in a document. Moreover, the documents then seem to be stored in different locations or computers thus a user needs to communicate one user in order to locate the file that they have been looking for.
However, with the advancements of technology, so did the desktop collaboration tools. These days, most desktop collaboration tools are connected to a network that allows real time tracking of the changes by the central management system. Most companies and organizations have invested so far as to organizing the documents under one database so that users can easily pull them by looking at their categories.

On the other hand, most desktop collaboration tools these days have still limited use. Since they are connected to a local server or intranet, the management can opt to secure the data from the internet even if the organization is connected to it. This makes the transfer of files and data secure from prying eyes of the hackers thus allowing the tool to run even without the presence of the internet. However, it can be connected to the internet through connecting to a virtual tunnel which is useful for management teams that are located across borders and are not physically present inside the network to view the documents.
